Radiodermite

Radiodermatitis

Radiodermatitis is a significant side effect of ionizing radiations delivered to the skin during cancer treatments.

95% of cancer patients receiving radiation therapy will develop some form of radiodermatitis, including erythema, dry desquamation, and moist desquamation.

These skin reactions cause several complications, including treatment delays, diminished aesthetic appeal, and reduced quality of life. The intensity of the skin injury depends on both internal and external factors, such as age, smoking and life’s style.

Suggested recommendations include:

=

Using of an emollient cream before treatments

=

using several times a day a soothing and moisturizing cream

=

using soothing, anti-inflammatory actives

=

using comfortable, non-fitted clothes

=

using, for the daily hygene, warm water and neutral soaps

=

avoiding sunbath over the month after the treatment

Dermatite atopica

Atopic Dermatitis

Atopic Dermatitis (AD) is the most common chronic inflammatory skin disease.

AD incidence has risen two to three times in industrialized nations, impacting approximately from 15% to 20% of children and from 1% to 3% of adults worldwide.

Atopic dermatitis is caused by a complex interaction between immune dysregulation, epidermal gene mutations, and environmental factors that damage the epidermis causing intensely pruritic skin lesions.

Suggested recommendations include:

=

taking lukewarm baths for 10 minutes daily

=

using mild neutral pH cleansers

=

after bathing, applying emollient cream on damp skin (at least twice a day)

=

using loose-fitting, cotton clothing

=

drinking two liters of water daily and consuming anti-inflammatory foods and antioxidant vitamins

=

using anti-mite pillows and mattress covers

Cicatrice

Scar

Scar is a part of natural healing process of the skin, involving fibrous tissue. Scar requires prolonged treatment, up to one year, to restore its normal elasticity.

During this period, it is important preventing fibrotic conditions, such as hypertrophic scar and cheloid.

Suggested recommendations include:

=

applying a moisturizing and elasticizing cream several times a day

=

massaging until the cream is fully absorbed

=

applying a sunscreen over the scar

=

mobilizing the scar to prevent adhesions (2 or 3 minutes, several times, a day)

Acne

Acne

Acne is a chronic inflammatory disease of the sebaceous-pilosebaceous unit. Hormonal changes, typical of puberty, are the main cause: up to 80 percent of 20-25 year-old people are affected.

It’s most common in teenagers, but it also affects many adults. It is often difficult to find a cure, but an appropriate lifestyle can be adopted to control the disease.

Suggested recommendations include:

=

carrying out gentle cleansing with slow, circular movements

=

gently pat your face with a soft towel

=

using gentle, anti-inflammatory products

=

cleansing your skin in an accurate bur gentle way. Avoid scrubbing

=

avoid picking, popping or squeezing whiteheads, blackheads or pimples, or they may become inflamed

=

eating foods or supplements intended for skin wellness and sebo-regulator

Foto-aging

Photo-aging

Human skin is subject to both chronological aging and environmental damages. The main environmental factor that causes skin aging is the exposure of sun UV irradiation.

Photoaging causes inflammation as result of reactive oxygen species accumulation with loss of skin elasticity; skin appears dehydrated, wrinkled and with a dull complexion. Protection against ultraviolet (UV)B is key for clear skin phototype as there is a higher risk of sunburn, DNA damage and skin cancer.

Suggested recommendations include:

=

using a sunscreen suitable for your phototype

=

applying sunscreen 30 minutes before exposure and repeat every two hours

=

avoid exposure during hottest hours

=

generously moisturizing the skin

=

harnessing the power of antioxidant vitamins

=

using nutritional supplements to prepare skin for sunbaths
